[/s2If] [s2If is_user_logged_in()]Some music seems to be held in secret and kept away from the mass, hidden for only privileged people to witness. I’m ashamed to say I haven’t heard about Crickets Make Math until recently! The name strangely reminds me of my post about Pharos’s song Filthy Keys. Do you remember when I said everything is music, “from the crackling of crawling ants to the whispering of wind and trees” (I love quoting myself haha)? Well today I’m going to say this, everything in our world can be described with math. Creepy, isn’t it? Well, the point is if ants, or crickets, make music… They also make maths. Have we found the foundation of the artist name? Maybe, maybe not.

The BBC Music is really proud to widen the audience of this underrated producer named Daniel Stoeltzing (aka Crickets Make Math). Our eyes also have the tremendous pleasure to enjoy a creation from the studio Turtle Ink Production who made the video. Daniel Stoeltzing is Crickets Make Math. Hailing from New York in the USA, this talented artist has been experiencing with music for about 12 years now. Now 24 years away from his date of birth, you do the math (why is there so much math in this post?!), that guy has passed half of his life to play with sounds! Crickets Make Math is a perfect combination of talent, experience and inner flow, resulting in an unique and rich quality of production. Daniel always attempts to combine two characteristics at opposite sides of the sonic spectrum in every song : New with old sounds, electronic with organic, smooth pianos with dubstep-like wobble bass. He mostly produces Indie, Electronic and Instrumental type of music. Influences in his musical career are groups like Animal Collective, Don Caballero, Baths, Passion Pit and The Dismemberment Plan, just to name a new. What dose he uses to make his songs? You can have a pretty neat idea if you take a closer look at the video but let’s name a few of his tools. Crickets Make Math uses Pro Tools for production), Ableton for live performance, NI Maschine, Amplitude 2 & 3, NI Massive and an Ibanez SA Series guitar.
